How prompts are counted
A prompt is a question your customers ask AI assistants, such as “which plumber can I call in Brussels on a Sunday?”. Your plan sets a number of prompts per AI, shared by all the sites in your account: with Pro, you track up to 500 prompts on each AI you switch on (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews). You choose which AIs to track.
- Every 2 weeks (default, included): each prompt counts once.
- Weekly (on request, paid plans): a prompt tracked weekly counts double.
- On demand only: no prompts used from your quota; each measurement uses credits.
In every measurement, each prompt is asked 2 times to each AI, and rates come with their 95% confidence interval.
When you add a site, Recoia suggests how many prompts to track from its size (offers × places): around 30 to 80 for a local business, close to 1,000 for a national retailer. You then adjust.
Example: a national retailer tracks 1,000 prompts on the 4 AIs every 2 weeks. The Agency plan is enough (1,500 prompts per AI, €379 excl. VAT a month). Tracked weekly, it needs 2,000 prompts per AI: Agency + 5 packs of 100 prompts (€474 excl. VAT a month), or Scale (4,000 prompts per AI, 25 sites, API).
Credits pay for on-demand work: a one-off measurement costs 1 credit per 100 prompts × AI (for example 150 prompts on 3 AIs = 5 credits), an exploration (new cities, new services) 1 credit, a page comparison 1 credit. Automatic tracking and adding a site use no credits.
