Building trades

Trades: be the tradesperson AI assistants recommend

A leak, a broken boiler, a quote for a renovation: more and more homeowners put the question straight to ChatGPT or Perplexity. The assistant answers with two to five names. Recoia tells you whether you are one of them, who is named instead of you and which page to create to get in.

For: plumbers, electricians, heating engineers, roofers, joiners, decorators. Updated .

What your customers ask AI assistants

Examples of real-world questions, like the ones Recoia asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews several times to measure who gets recommended. Recoia asks them in French, the language of the market it measures.

  • “Which plumber can I call for an emergency in Paris on a Sunday?”
  • “How much does it cost to replace a water heater in Paris?”
  • “A reliable electrician in Paris to bring my wiring up to standard?”
  • “A trustworthy roofer in Paris for a roof leak, with good reviews?”
  • “Compare bathroom renovation companies in Paris”

Where AI assistants get their information

Types of sources seen in answers for this industry (updated 26 September 2026).

Directories and lead-generation platformsThey list tradespeople by town and trade: AI assistants use them to build their shortlists.
Business listings and customer reviewsThe rating, the number of reviews and how recent they are often appear word for word in the answer.
Your own websiteCited when a page answers precisely: the job, the town, an indicative price, the lead time.

The information your website must give

  • Each service on its own (emergency repairs, installation, renovation), not just “plumbing”
  • The towns you cover, written out in full
  • An indicative price or range, and how quickly you can come out
  • Emergency, evening and weekend call-outs, if you offer them
  • Qualifications and insurance (RGE, Qualibat, ten-year “décennale” cover…)
  • Your average rating and number of reviews, with the date they were updated

The pages to create first

  1. One page per service and per main town

“Leak repairs in Paris” answers the question better than an “Our services” page.

  2. A pricing page with a dated table

Assistants readily reuse “service · from · lead time” tables.

  3. An FAQ for each service

Each common question becomes a subheading, with the direct answer in the first sentence.

Common mistakes

  • A one-page brochure site with no town and no price
  • Different contact details on your site and in directories
  • Reviews that are years old and never answered

What Recoia does for you

  1. It reads your website

Services, areas, customers: the questions are built for you.

  2. It asks the AI assistants

Every question several times, on four assistants, every 2 weeks.

  3. It shows the opportunities

The topics where your customers are searching and a competitor is named instead of you.

  4. It gives you the page to create

Title, outline, facts to include, FAQ, structured data. Then it measures the effect.

Frequently asked questions

Does a tradesperson really need to be visible in AI assistants?

“Which tradesperson should I choose near me?” is one of the everyday uses of AI assistants. Recoia measures where you actually stand on your own questions, so you can decide with the facts in hand.

Do I need a new website?

Rarely. Most of the time a few specific pages (a service, a town) and some factual information are missing. Recoia gives you the outline of each page.
